Managed service providers (MSPs) have been around for long enough for most people to have a fairly solid understanding of what they do. While not always the best source for information,Wikipedia has a useful definition of managed services which leads succinctly to the point of this document. “Managed services is the practice of outsourcing the responsibility for maintaining, and anticipating need for, a range of processes and functions, ostensibly for the purpose of improved operations and reduced budgetary expenditures through the reduction of directly-employed staff.”  That’s what MSPs have been known for and how their value has traditionally been measured.  Those days are over.
